Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Brussels sprouts seem to have made a comeback in recent years and are featured on many restaurant menus. This version is simple to make, but so delicious. They are sweet, savory, and a bit spicy.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb brussels sprouts
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp crushed red peppers

Steps

1

Preheat the oven to 375 F. Wash the Brussels sprouts and remove any discolored or wilted leaves. Trim the ends off the spouts, slice in half from end to tip, and place them in a 9×13” or larger glass baking dish.

2

Pour the olive oil over the Brussels sprouts and toss well. Sprinkle in the sea salt and crushed peppers and toss well.

3

Pour the maple syrup in and toss again.

4

Sprinkle in the sea salt and crushed peppers and toss well, spreading out the sprouts so that they are in one layer.

5

Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Stir the Brussels sprouts and cook for another 10 minutes. When they are done, a sharp knife should easily slide through a sprout. You may cook for an additional 5 minutes if you prefer crispy skins and a more tender texture. Serve hot.
