Enjoy this delicious smoothie knowing that you are doing good things for your body. It is a great way to start the day or as an afternoon snack. This green smoothie is filled with healthy ingredients that support digestion and elimination of toxins. The fiber from the fruits, vegetables, chia seeds, hemps seeds and barley grass juice powder not only feed the gut microbes, but also help increase elimination through healthy bowel movements. Spirulina and cilantro help to remove heavy metals from the body. Cilantro is especially effective when combined with chlorophyll which is present in both spirulina and barley grass juice powder. Barley grass juice powder is an incredible health food that benefits multiple systems of the body. Both spirulina and barley grass juice powder protect the liver which is one of the primary detoxification organs.

Ingredients
- 2 bananas
- 2 large kale leaves
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro
- 1 green apple cored
- 1 cup water
- 2 T hemp seeds
- 2 T chia seeds
- 1 ½ tsp barley grass juice powder
- 1 tsp spirulina
- 1 cup frozen mango chunks
- ½ cup frozen pineapple chunks
- ¾ cup coconut water
Steps
1
Break the banana into chunks and put it in the blender along with the kale, cilantro, green apple, and the water. Blend on low for a few seconds then increase the speed to high and blend for 15 seconds or until almost smooth.
2
Add the hemp seeds, chia seeds, barley grass juice powder, and spirulina. Blend on low speed for a few seconds then increase to high speed to fully incorporate the ingredients.
3
Add the mango, pineapple, and coconut water and blend until smooth. If needed add ice and more water or coconut water to achieve the desired consistency and temperature.
Note that the chia seeds absorb water and the smoothie will thicken when left to stand. If you don’t drink the smoothie immediately, just stir vigorously before drinking. If you can’t find barley grass juice powder, you can substitute with equal amounts chlorella. Cilantro has a strong taste that you may have to get accustomed to. You can start with a smaller amount of cilantro and gradual increase as your taste buds adjust.

Looks great!! Will give it a try…
Hope you like it!
I will give this a try.
Hope you Like it Jack. If the cilantro is too strong, even without it the smoothie is still so good for you.
I bought spirulina for the first time last week. I found a store in Orange CA called Grocery Outlet. I purchased $200 of food not commonly sold in the east. Also scored some Seaweed treats plus all kinds of healthy ingredients to add to my smoothies and Greek yogurts …
That’s great Jack. I get some of my supplements from a few online sources that I trust.
I have tried this one it’s great! Thank you!
Thanks Kieran

I’ll figure that out and get back to you Trish. I don’t worry about calories and just focus more on the nutrients.
I need to try this!
I hope you like it Ally!
Is it gluten-free? I’ve never heard of barley grass? Is it processed with barley?
Barley grass is harvested before the grain develops so it is gluten free. That being said, make sure you source it from a reputable manufacturer to know that there is no cross contamination with the grain. The supplement I use is labeled GF.
Looks delicious!
Thanks Peggy!
